Introduction
HDDD hole openers for horizontal drilling
Horizontal reamer, also known as HDDD reamer, is used to expand the
pilot hole of horizontal directional drilling (HDDD) - HDDD is used
when grooves and excavations are not practical. This drilling
technique allows drilling underground in a manipulable trenchless
manner.
Advantages
Cutting Structure
Reaming bit mainly consists of four or more cones. Main cutting
tooth is Tungsten Carbide insert tooth and steel tooth welded
new-type wear-resistant alloy. High quality tungsten carbide tooth
of new formula and new technique increases the service life of
reaming bit. The pilot is roller cone bit or drag bit.
Seal and Lubrication
The bearing seal applys high performance O-ring seal or metal
sealed bearing and imported lubrication grease special for bit.

The main structure features
Reamer with interchangeable tool was developed for large diameter
HDD projects where extending downhole life is critical. Larger
bearings and tools significantly extend downhole life compared to
smaller, conventional types of tools.
Replaceable milling sets are available in TCI and grinding teeth to
accommodate a variety of rock formations. All bits have 3-6 cutters
and can be drilled in 4 different sizes.
All tool bearings are metal sealed. Tool locks are used to prevent
cutting tools from falling off.
It can provide 400-2000mm hole opener.
There are three stages
1 .the first stage is to drill a small diameter pilot hole.
2. The second stage is enlarge the hole with a larger diameter
cutting tool called an HDD Reamer,
Rock Reamer or Hole Opener.
3. The third stage is inserting the casing pipe or other product
into the enlarged hole.
